Lazare Weiller est une célébrité alsacienne. Il est né à Sélestat en 1858 dans une modeste famille juive, d’un père colporteur et d’une mère servante. Après l’annexion de l’Alsace-Moselle en 1871, il rejoint son oncle, Moïse Weiller, un industriel fixé en Charente. Après de brillantes études à Angoulême, au lycée St. Louis à Paris puis à Oxford, il retourne dans l’usine de tamis métalliques de son oncle. Il se convertit au catholicisme en 1882, épouse sa cousine qui meurt en couches et se remarie avec la fille d’un député de l’Yonne. Il fit fortune avec des usines de tréfilerie en produisant des câbles téléphoniques et des câbles sous-marins. Il fut aussi un pionnier de la télévision. En 1908 il crée la Cie Générale de Navigation aérienne en en 1912 la Cie Universelle de télégraphie et téléphonie sans fil. Waldeck-Rousseau lui confia une mission aux États-Unis où il rencontra Pierpont Morgan et Vanderbilt. En 1914 le gouvernement l’envoie en Suisse où les Allemands avaient établi leur QG de propagande. De mai 1915 à sept. 1918, il publie dans Le Temps une série de lettres sous le titre L’Allemagne vue de Suisse. Ces lettres forment la 1ere partie du volume (pp. 1 à 96). La deuxième partie, intitulée Pro Alsatia, avec une photogr. hors-texte d’Alsacienne en costume) est une série de textes d’avant la délivrance et d’après la victoire - Les noms alsaciens, Les spoliations en Alsace Lorraine, Le pèlerinage d’un Alsacien, Schlestadt, Que faut-il faire pour l’Alsace, Choses d’Alsace, l’Alsace ne veut pas être méconnue par les Américains, l’Université de Strasbourg, etc.ENVOI AUTOGRAPHE à Melle Suzanne Lefranc (de la famille des célèbres inventeurs de la peinture en tube) : Lisez ici ces pages brèves, Pour que dans vos yeux émouvants, Le lac et ses sables mouvants, Viennent bercer vos rêves souvent. Finally there is a typed biography of Lazarus with his phone number sans area code in holograph ink. <br/><br/>Torri Larranga is a prostitute at the top of her game charging high prices for exquisite services. Her reputation precedes her as a documentarian approaches her asking to film a feature look into her life. <br/><br/>The first directorial effort of Tom Lazarus who later went to on to direct "Stigmata" 1999 and write "Just You and Me Kid" 1979. <br/><br/>Red titled wrappers.
