Surgen en 1985 con el propósito inicial de vincular a los escritores matanceros con la literatura universal y con las creaciones de escritores nacionales. Desde un inicio la idea estética de Vigía estuvo encaminada a acercar lo más posible el libro al trabajo humano.En su etapa inicial tuvieron el objetivo expreso de promover la literatura de la localidad de Matanzas y el rescate del libro como objeto de arte más el rápido éxito que merecieron hizo que el proyecto se extendiera en la divulgación de lo mejor de la creación artística nacional y universal.</p><p>En los primeros años el taller se dedicó a la impresión de las invitaciones de las actividades que se desarrollaban en la recién inaugurada institución y en otros lugares de interés cultural. Posteriormente comenzaron los primeros plegables y plaquettes ediciones bilingües concebidas como apoyo a varios ciclos de conferencias que sobre literatura universal se ofrecieron catálogos de exposiciones etc. y todo ello combinado con un trabajo de diseño que fue complejizándose</p> Ediciones vigia paperback
