193224159New York: The Macaulay Company 1932. First edition. Hardcover. Orange cloth covered boards with blue ink stamped titles. Fair condition only. A bit of an eyesore. Numerous portions of the abraded original dust jacket are adhered to the covers and the inside flaps of the dust jacket are mounted to the pastedowns. There are four splits in the cloth along the joints at the ends of the spine. The longest tear measures one inch. The spine is rolled. The hinges are broken and the text block is coming away from the spine. The pages are mildly browned but clean. As is. This is Thurman's third novel. Wallace Thurman is the author of Infants of the Spring and The Blacker the Berry. Thurman was born in Salt Lake City. The Macaulay Company hardcover

Has 26 illustrations of landmarks connected with Lincoln from Bernhardt Wall's "Following Abraham Lincoln 1809-1865" a monumental etched work limited to only 100 copies. Charles Heartman's American Book Collector lasted 36 issues before publication ceased in 1935. In 1950 William B. Thorsen began a new magazine called The Amateur Book Collector. However he soon received permission from Heartman's widow to change the name to American Book Collector. There were 233 issues published before its demise in 1976. A fine first edition copy of the pastoral poem The Lamentations of Amyntas by Thomas Watson translated by Abraham Fraunce. The first edition of this reprint of the original 1585 and 1587 works in the publisher's original cloth binding with the original glassine wrapper. The pastoral lament 'Amyntas' written in Latin by Thomas Watson reprinted from the unique copy dated 1585 held at the British Museum. Alongside is a reprint of the almost line-by-line translation by Abraham Fraunce written in 1587. With facsimiles of the original title pages an errata slip and an introduction by Franklin M. Dickey. Thomas Watson is now chiefly remembered for his Hekatompathia or Passionate Century of Love 1582 but in the 1590s was highly regarded for his Latin poetry. In publisher's original cloth binding with original glassine wrapper. Externally cloth is in excellent condition. Internally firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean.
