1905005853New York: A.S. Barnes & Compnay 1905. Abraham Cahan 1860-1951 was a founder 1897 and long-time Editor of the Jewish Forward. He is best known for his semi-autobiographical novel "The Rise of David Levinsky" 1917 which is one of the best works highlighting the Jewish immigrant experience. This is a Near Fine copy of an earlier effort based upon the assasination of Czar Alexander II in 1881. An uncommon title issued two years after the Kishenef pogrom. Dark green cloth binding with titling and decorations in white and red on the spine and front cover. Very bright on the cover; slightly faded on the spine. Clean text; 430 pages; very fresh.
