Very Good.<br/><br/> Israel Cohen 1820-1875 was a prominent member of Baltimore's most prominent Jewish family. The nephew of Mendes Israel Cohen son of Benjamin I. Cohen 1797-1845 and husband of Rachael Cohen he spent his life in Baltimore. <br/> The 1850 Census lists him as "Security and Commodity Brokerage and Investment Companies." The 1860 Census as well as the 1870 Census lists him as stockbroker. He was also a Railroad Company director; Secretary Treasurer and patron of the Maryland Academy of Music; and patron of the Maryland Academy of Art. His father Benjamin I. Cohen was one of the foremost bankers of Baltimore a founder of the Baltimore Stock Board and an influential advocate of Jewish civil rights. unknown books
