William Edmondson or Edmundson (1627-1712) was the founder of Quakerism in Ireland. He was born in Little Musgrove, Westmoreland, England, and was raised by an uncle. He joined the Parliamentary Army, and went to Scotland in 1650. He took part in the Battle of Worcester. While serving in the military, at Chesterfield, he was first introduced to Quakerism. After his discharge he went to live in County Antrim, Ireland. He established the first Meeting House in Lurgan, Ireland in 1654. He was imprisoned several times for his faith.
