William Wilson (born 1749), came to Baltimore from the county of Limerick, Ireland, in 1770. Soon after the end of the Revolutionary War he became a shipping power, and a large importer of English goods. He was distinguished for his uprightness and liberality, and was prominent in public matters (including interest-free loans to the government).
