Dust jacket not price clipped or marked with sunning to spine and creasing and small tears to corners. 400pp. The well-known travel writer, follows his interest in the early history of the Christian faith and describes a journey from the Euphrates to the Nile and on to the Tiber. The Egypt described here differs from the well-known Egypt of the Pharaohs but is the little-known Egypt of St Mark.

The recipients are the author's close friends Colonel & Mrs Goddard; Newlandsmith has decorated his inscription with a musical stave captioned 'Ad Dei Gloriam'. The first volume of 'The Musician's Pilgrimage', the autobiography of the famous musicologist, founder of the New Life Movement and transcriber of Coptic church music. Extremely scarce, especially as a presentation copy. We have been unable to trace any institutional copy of this work.

Catalog lists 244 works. 356 illustrations including 112 color plates. Fold-out list of plates. A major collection of Coptic textiles formed mostly in the late 19th century. 11" high X 9" wide. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and sent with tracking.

Notevole risalto è conferito anche alla storie delle eresie monofisite in Etiopia, ai cusciti e alle altre popolazioni dell'Etiopia primitiva, alla Regina di Saba, alla presenza delle confessioni religiose minoritarie in Etiopia (soprattutto ebraica e mussulmana) e alla missioni cattoliche in tale paese, dagli evangelizzatori portoghesi sino a Giustino De Jacobis e a Guglielmo Massaia. Il Sottochiesa (nato nel 1893 a Rovereto, morto nel 1963) fu pubblicista cattolico e poeta vernacolare noto soprattutto per i suoi virulenti strali antisemiti dopo la promulgazione delle leggi razziali. Egli collaborò (si firmava spesso) 'Scriptor' e 'Arianus'), alle più facinorose riviste antigiudaiche italiane (Il Tevere, Quadrivio, La difesa della razza) e redasse il noto volume Sotto la maschera di Israele.
