Krishnamurti

1956 · 187784 — New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers 1956. First edition of this collection of 88 essays by the Theosophical Society's "Chosen One". Krishnamurti was raised to be the vessel for the "coming" of the World Teacher but he rejected this plan declaring he did not want followers. He later expanded upon the Commentaries on Living with a second 1958 and third series 1960. The editor Desikachayra Rajagopal 1900-1993 was raised to be a spiritual leader alongside Krishnamurti 1895-1986. Rajagopal departed the Theosophical Society with Krishnamurti in 1929 and from 1927 to 1967 he edited and published Krishnamurti's public lectures. Their relationship and its controversial end is described in Lives in the Shadow with J. Krishnamurti 1991 by Rajagopal's daughter Radha. Octavo.
