"Carlo Suarès è nato ad Alessandria d'Egitto nel 1892 e si è sempre dichiarato alessandrino, dicendo in proposito: "E' essere troppo profondamente religioso per essere credente". Successivamente si trasferì a Parigi dove si laureerà in architettura. Lui e la moglie Nadine saranno per lungo tempo legati a Krishnamurti da una particolare amicizia fino alla metà degli anni Sessanta, quando a causa di alcuni dissidi interni al gruppo che coordinava in Francia gli incontri di Krishnamurti si allontaneranno in modo definitivo. Suarès contribuì con diversi scritti e traduzioni a far conoscere Krishnamurti nel mondo francese. Intorno agli anni Trenta, insieme ad alcuni amici, fra cui il poeta e scrittore Joe Bousquet, elaborerà una sorta di dottrina, chiamata 'présentisme', direttamente ispirata all'insegnamento krishnamurtiano (Cfr: Ph. Lamour, J. Bousquet, C. Suarès, Voie libre, Paris, Au sens pareil, 1930). In italiano è stato tradotto di Suarès, Saggio su Krishnamurti, tr. it., Genova, Lattes, 1929. Successivamente, dopo la rottura con Krishnamurti, rivolgerà sempre di più l'attenzione alle sue radici ebraiche applicandosi allo studio della qabbalah, pubblicando saggi sull'argomento".
