Foi publicada uma segunda edição em 1824.</p>_x000d_<p>Esta obra é paradigmática da visão dos defensores do Antigo Regime apoiantes do Miguelismo focando-se numa análise totalmente negativa da Constituição de 1822 e da sua forte relação com a Maçonaria que considera ser responsável pela revolução francesa e por todos os males daí decorrentes incluindo as lutas políticas em Portugal. Consequentemente ataca-a de forma violenta: «facção anárquica e perversa» «temíveis e venenosos monstros» «seita de monstros formados das escórias do inferno» entre muitas outras declarações. Malheiro da Silva considera o autor como um «operoso publicista contra-revolucionário muito interessante do ponto de vista doutrinário».</p>_x000d_<p>Faustino José da Madre de Deus de Sousa Coutinho Lisboa 1770 - 1833 estudou no colégio de S. Lucas na Casa Pia e foi discípulo em matemática do célebre professor José Anastácio da Cunha. Entrando depois no serviço da armada chegou ao posto de segundo ou primeiro Tenente do qual se diz que pediu a demissão por desgosto motivado pela preterição que sofrera. Leccionou em colégios e casas particulares onde ensinava filosofia racional e matemática elementar. Foi mação em tempos antigos mas abandonou depois a sociedade e escreveu contra ela. Residia na freguesia de S. Tomé onde faleceu de cólera. Foi autor de cerca de uma vintena de obras e colaborou nos periódicos Trombeta Final e Gazeta de Lisboa em 1828.</p>_x000d_<p>EN In quarto. 205x145 cm. xii 60 pages. A second edition was published in 1824.</p>_x000d_<p>This work is paradigmatic of the vision of the defenders of the <em>Ancien Régime</em> supporters of Miguelism focusing on a totally negative analysis of the 1822 Constitution and its strong relationship with Freemasonry which it considers to be responsible for the French Revolution and all the evils that resulted from it including the political struggles in Portugal. Consequently attacks it violently: "anarchic and perverse faction" "fearsome and poisonous monsters" "sect of monsters formed from the dregs of hell" among many other statements. Malheiro da Silva considers the author to be a "hard-working counter-revolutionary publicist very interesting from a doctrinal point of view".</p>_x000d_<p>Faustino José da Madre de Deus de Sousa Coutinho Lisbon 1770 - 1833 studied at Colégio de S. Lucas in Casa Pia and was taught mathematics by the famous professor José Anastácio da Cunha. He then joined the navy and rose to the rank of second or first lieutenant from which he is said to have resigned out of disgust at being passed over. He taught in colleges and private houses where he taught rational philosophy and elementary mathematics. He was a Mason in the old days but later left the society and wrote against it. He lived in the parish of S. Tomé where he died of cholera.
