Mary Cecil was encouraged by Howard Carter and took on a series of excavations near Aswan Thirty-two of the Tombs of the Nobles were uncovered in her excavations and for many years these were known as the "Cecil Tombs".<br> In addition to the colour drawing by Howard Carter there is a photograph taken by him. The other illustrations in this work include photographs sketches and drawings from various sources. There is also a large folding map of Egypt and the valley of the Nile as far south as Khartoum and a historical map of Egypt and the countries associated with it.
