Einband etwas berieben. - Vorwort von Christoph Stölzl. - INHALT : Einleitung ----- Postkarten aus der Kolonialzeit ----- Colon im Kontext von Edward Graham Norris ----- Bildteil Colon ----- Figuren und Objekte ----- Die Fremdheit afrikanischer Colon-Figuren von Fritz Kramer ----- Les maitres fous von Jean Rouch ----- Colon im Puppenspiel von Wolfgang Till ----- Voodoo von Gert Chesi. // ... es werden die traditionellen afrikanischen Kulturelemente wie Besessenheit, Ritual, Hexerei, die Repräsentation von Verstorbenen, aber auch Musik, Tanz und Schauspiel in einer Weise zitiert werden müssen, die zeigt, daß der Kolonialismus keineswegs allein zum satirischen Gegenschlag im Lips'schen Sinn inspirierte, sondern vielmehr die Tradition zwang, ihre Brauchbarkeit in der Lösung von Problemen und Konflikten zu beweisen, die der Kolonialismus lediglich heraufbeschwor. Der zeitgenössische afrikanische Voodoo, mit einer Gruppe von Figuren ebenfalls in dieser Ausstellung vertreten, veranschaulicht, daß die Problematik des Kolonialismus heute weitgehend integriert und aufgelöst zu sein scheint. So ist die Colonisation der Skulptur in Afrika nicht etwa das Ergebnis der kulturellen, geistigen und territorialen Expansion Europas, also keine originäre Leistung der Kolonisatoren, sondern vielmehr eine eigenständige Leistung der Kolonisierten vor dem Hintergrund ihrer Tradition - ein Ergebnis, das dem Europäer zwar nicht mit Satire, wohl aber mit Ironie entgegentritt. Es bleiben uns Erstaunen, Würdigung, Versuche der Deutung, und bei gewissenhafter Prüfung die Feststellung der Fremdheit afrikanischer colon-Figuren. - Jens Jahn (Einleitung)
