Ne nasce un affresco ironico e poetico di un remoto angolo d'Uganda, ai piedi del monte Oret, la montagna del vento che si impone sull'ospedale di Kalongo. La fatica, le preoccupazioni economiche, la difficoltà di continuare un'eredità importante come quella di padre Ambrosoli sono affrontate con umanità e semplicità, con gli occhi sempre aperti alla bellezza, sapendo che non si è soli. Sono infatti le persone e le loro storie i veri protagonisti di questo libro: dai padri missionari ai pazienti dell'ospedale, dai colleghi alle grandi personalità ugandesi. In ogni lettera emerge l'affetto per un popolo al quale l'autore ha dedicato trent'anni di vita.
