Prima edizione in piccolo formato, della prestigiosa opera di Prevost. con una pianta geografica della "Ville de Diu" (più volte ripiegata su se stessa) e due tavole incise in rame fuori testo. Stato di conservazione: Un alone (presumibilmente causato da una pregressa umidità) sul margine verticale bianco (bordo) delle pagine interne (su molte appena visibile, su altre leggermente più marcato); un timbro riportante il nome di un antico proprietario sulla prima pagina bianca ed una firma d'appartenenza a penna sul frontespizio; un forellino di tarlo sul bordo bianco inferiore della pianta geografica fuori testo; un minuscolo foro sul foglio che contiene la pagina 269-270, uno strappo (senza mancanza) sul bordo bianco verticale del foglio che contiene le pagine 399-400,qualche leggero segno d'usura sulla coperta e sul dorso ma, nel complesso, un esemplare abbastanza ben conservato. la presente inserzione fa riferimento esclusivamente al tomo secondo di quest'opera. In questo volume sono presenti: - "Voyages au Sud-Est et aux Indes Orientales", - "Premiers voyages des anglois en Guinée & aux Indes Orientales".

Bella legatura coeva in tutta pelle rosse con titolo, filetti, fregi e nome dell'antico collezzionista (un Marchese) impressi in oro al dorso. Piatti foderati con carta marmorizzata coeva. Seconda non comune edizione, in perfette condizioni di conservazione, di questo importante resoconto africano. D'Ollone (1868-1945) fu un celebre ufficiale militare francese. Capitano di fanteria, fu inviato a condurre una missione esplorativa nell'Africa occidentale tra il 1898 ed il 1900, missione che è proprio ripercorsa in questo volume. Pochi anni dopo D'Ollone, guidò anche una missione scientifica in Cina (1906-1909). Fu nominato generale di brigata nel 1919, e si distinse come ufficiale dalle grandi doti durante il primo conflitto mondiale tanto da ottenere la Legion d'Onore francese nel 1933. L'opera ricostruisce la flora, la fauna, i paesaggi ed i costumi delle popolazioni locali incontrate. Esempalre in seconda edizione ed in perfette condizioni di conservazione, in bella legatura coeva. Provenienza nobiliare. Very good copy, second edition, rare.<BR>

Querformat. (ca. 12,6 x 17,3 cm). 3 Photographien. Original-Photographien, mit weissem Bildrand, Rückseiten mit Beschriftung (Bleistift). Photographien gut erhalten, ganz minimal verblasst. Altersentsprechend guter Zustand. Die drei Photographien liegen in einem größeren Format und auf festem Photopapier vor. Die Aufnahmen zeigen Ansichten von der Insel Fernando Poo (Bioko) mit Palmen und Gewässern, zudem auch Anpflanzungen auf Feldern. Alle Photographien wurden auf der Rückseite in deutscher Sprache beschriftet: Fernando Poo. Pflanzungsweg m. Blick a. Missionskirche von Basilé / Fernando Poo. Bucht v. S. Carlos / Fernando Poo. Bei San Carlos. Die Insel stand spätestens ab Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts unter spanischer Herrschaft. Die historischen Aufnahmen entstanden wahrscheinlich in den Jahren vor Beginn des Ersten Weltkriegs. Da die Insel direkt vor der Küste von Kamerun liegt, ist es überaus plausibel dass die Photographien mit ihren deutschsprachigen Beschriftungen durch Deutsche im Rahmen der Tätigkeit im damaligen 'Deutsch-Kamerun' entstanden sind. Zwischen 1916 und 1919 waren zudem tausende Soldaten und Angehörige der 'Deutschen Schutztruppe Kameruns' auf der Insel stationiert. Auch eine Entstehung in dieser Zeit wäre möglich. Zudem kehrten auch nach dem Verlust der kolonialen Plantagengebiete zahlreiche Firmen aus Deutschland zurück nach Afrika, indem sie die früheren Gebiete nun legal erwarben. Die Ansichten könnten also auch in den 1920er Jahren gemacht worden sein. Doch mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit ist eine Entstehung in den Jahren vor 1914 anzunehmen. Alle drei Aufnahmen gehören definitiv zusammen, die Handschrift (mit Bleistift) ist identisch. Historische Bilder mit Bezug zur deutschen Kolonialgeschichte in Kamerun!
