Questo interessante resoconto di un viaggio in Africa effettuato dall’Abate Laffitte “Pretre du Diocèse d’Aire, auteur du Dahomé”, prende così avvio: “Parmi les terres comprises dans cette partie de l’Afrique que baigne le golfe de Guinée, il en est une dont le nom seul, la cote des Esclaves, attire plus particulièrement l’attention. La cote des Esclaves commence au cap Saint-Paul et se prolonge jusqu’à Lagos”. "Prima edizione". Forti arrossature intercalate nel testo.

Written by one of the most respected writers on the art of New Guinea, it gives " a detailed account of Lake Sentani culture, and analysis of its art forms and their function in the society". 81 works in the exhibition. Profusely illustrated with black & white photos. This is a very good hardcover copy in a very good dust jacket (jacket with light soil). La mappa mostra l'odierna Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Costa D'Avorio, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Nigeria e Camerun. Orientata a 90 gradi a sinistra cosi che la Guinea è in orizzontale. Titolo decorato con elaborato cartiglio e illustrazioni di flora e fauna secondo l'interpretazione europea. Descrizione completa della Guinea in lingua latina al verso. Jan Jansson, celebre cartografo, appartenente ad una lunga stirpe di stampatori attivi a partire dal XVII secolo. Si stabilirono prima ad Arnhem poi ad Amsterdam. Oriented 90 degrees to the left so that the Guinea is horizontal. Elaborately decorated title and decoration cartouches and illustrations of European interpretations of african flora and fauna. Complete description of Guinea in latin language in the verso. Jan Jansson was part of an influential family of map publishers from the Netherland throughout the 17th century and beyond. Published four months after the first edition. Arguably the finest account of the Battle of Britain by a British fighter pilot. Hillary flew Spitfires out of Hornchurch with 603 Squadron and claimed five victories before being badly burned over the North Sea. An early member of the Guinea Pig Club, he was treated by McIndoe and returned to duty, but was killed shortly after in a training accident.
