Prima traduzione in francese autorizzata dall' Autore e condotta sulle edizioni inglese e tedesca da M.me H. Loreau. La relazione di viaggio nel Sudan egiziano dell'esploratore e naturalista tedesco Georg August Schweinfurth, con importanti osservazioni sul Bahr-el-Ghazal, l'alto Congo (Uelle) ed il complesso oro-idrografico della regione. Interessanti le notizie sulle popolazioni incontrate, in particolare i Niam Niam o Asande ed il popolo pigmeo degli Akka. Leggere e circoscritte tracce di ossidazione, peraltro ottimo stato di conservazione.

It shows Australia, Bahr-i Muhit-i Kebir, Pacific Ocean, New Zealand, Micronesia et alli. Scale: 1/20.000.000. Gregorian: 1927. It's printed from 'Sudi Bey' Map Corpus. This was a map serie printed in the early Republican period in Turkish with Arabic letters. Very decorative map with its color flags of various countries longitudinal on right and left sides of map. Sudi printing house was an Ottoman / Turkish publisher who was one of the longest-running of Turkish publishers.

Livy, protetto da velina in antiporta ; 313,(1), con in fine una carta geografica più volte ripiegata ( "Carta speciale del Sudan Orientale secondo la stato attuale delle cognizioni geografiche, ad illustrazione dei viaggi di G. Beltrame, costrutta e disegnata da Guido Cora" ). Ottimo stato di conservazione.
Very Good Arabic Original pictorial wrappers. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In Arabic. 169, [1] p., many ills. First Beirut Edition and early edition in Arabic literature of this classic novel by Salih, who is one of Sudan's greatest authors of the twentieth century. The story is set in the fictional village of Wad Hamid, the same setting as Salih's famous Season of Migration to the North. It is a comic novella, centering on the unlikely nuptials of the town's eccentric Zein. Tall and odd-looking, with just two teeth in his mouth, Zein has made a reputation for himself as the man who falls in love over and over with girls who promptly marry other men, to the point where mothers seek him out in hopes that he will draw the eye of available suitors to their eligible daughters. "The Wedding of Zein" was made into a drama in Libya and won Kuwaiti filmmaker Khalid Siddiq an award at the Cannes Film Festival in the late 1970s. Some critics identify this novella may be considered part of the tradition of magical realism, although Salih considered it as a socialist realist one. Minor stains on cover and edges. Overall a good copy. Only two paper copies in OCLC in Library University of Amsterdam and Leiden University Library: 71470668. It's also the earliest edition in the OCLC.

Resoconto di una importante spedizione nell'interno dell'Africa - con solo dieci uomini armati - intrapresa dall'esploratore francese Parfait-Louis Monteil (1855-1925). Partito da Saint-Louis, in Senegal, mosse per impervie regioni alla volta del lago Ciad attraversando il bacino del Niger, toccando Sokoto, Kano e infine Kuka sulle sponde del lago. All the evidence is very recent and for the first time all this archaeobotanical evidence is brought together in one volume (at present the information is unpublished or published in many disparate journals, confer ence reports, monographs, site reports, etc. ). Early publications concerned with the origins of African plant domestication relied almost exclusively on inferences made from the modem distribution of the wild progenitors of African cultivars; there existed virtually no archaeobotanical data at that time. Even as recently as the early 1990s direct evidence for the transition to farming and the relative roles of indigenous versus Near Eastern crops was lacking for most of Africa. This volume changes that and presents a wide range of ex citing new evidence, including case studies from Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Uganda, Egypt, and Sudan, which range in date from 8000 BP to the present day. The volume ad dresses topics such as the role of wild plant resources in hunter-gatherer and farming com munities, the origins of agriculture, the agricultural foundation of complex societies, long-distance trade, the exchange of foods and crops, and the human impact on local vege tation-all key issues of current research in archaeology, anthropology, agronomy, ecol ogy, and economic history.

Bella legatura coeva in tutta pelle rosse con titolo, filetti, fregi e nome dell'antico collezzionista (un Marchese) impressi in oro al dorso. Piatti foderati con carta marmorizzata coeva. Seconda non comune edizione, in perfette condizioni di conservazione, di questo importante resoconto africano. D'Ollone (1868-1945) fu un celebre ufficiale militare francese. Capitano di fanteria, fu inviato a condurre una missione esplorativa nell'Africa occidentale tra il 1898 ed il 1900, missione che è proprio ripercorsa in questo volume. Pochi anni dopo D'Ollone, guidò anche una missione scientifica in Cina (1906-1909). Fu nominato generale di brigata nel 1919, e si distinse come ufficiale dalle grandi doti durante il primo conflitto mondiale tanto da ottenere la Legion d'Onore francese nel 1933. L'opera ricostruisce la flora, la fauna, i paesaggi ed i costumi delle popolazioni locali incontrate.
