7756helles Holz, Metall und Material. Die Figur ist aus einem Stück geschnitzt und mit Plastik(?)ketten an den Handgelenken und um den Bauch geschmückt. Gleichzeitig ist ein Metallring eingearbeitet. Die Figur zeigt eine weibliche Person, mit den für die Yoruba typischen Wangentätowierungen (in Form von Kerben dargestellt). Im Stamm der Yoruba ist die Verehrung der Zwillingsfiguren IBEDJI stark in der Kultur verbreitet. Die Yorubas zeichnen sich durch eine überdurchschnittliche Rate von Zwillingsgeburten aus. Die hohe Kindersterblichkeit hat dazu geführt, das anstelle eines verstorbenen Zwillings diese Figuren auftreten. Sie müssen von dem überlebenden Zwilling oder der Mutter sorgsam gepflegt werden. Sie werden gefüttert, gekleidet und symbolisch gewaschen. Das Alter der Skulptur lässt sich nicht genau bestimmen, vermutlich ist sie etwa 40 bis 50 Jahre alt. Gutes Exemplar.
