Original 1970 photograph capturing the Russian composer pianist and conductor in a somewhat defensive pose with hands shielding his musical score open before him. 9.5" x 13". Camera Press/Snowdon credit and other stamps on the verso. Small crease to the upper right corner tiny nick to the lower left; otherwise a crisp image in fine condition. <br><br><br />Lord Snowdon was married to Princess Margaret sister of Queen Elizabeth II from 1960 to 1978. He is also a world-renowned photographer and documentarian. At first his photography focused almost exclusively on design fashion and theater but he soon managed to establish himself as a successful portraitist through his photos of British royals including Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1957. In the 1960s Lord Snowdon landed a job as the picture editor of The Sunday Times magazine and by the 1970s his work had placed him among England's most well-respected photographers. unknown books

Typed letter signed from the great composer to Ray Smith manager of the Hollywood Bowl Association agreeing to conduct the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra on August 12 1952. Together with the final page of the contract for the engagement signed by both Stravinsky and Smith and retained copies of the term sheets for the engagement. Dated April 19 1952. Stravinsky confirms his engagement as conductor "on Tuesday evening August 12 1952 at a fee of $1500 -- with two rehearsals Monday and Tuesday of that week of 2 1/2 hours each" and goes on to mention that his son Soulima Stravinsky will also be able to appear as piano soloist in the concert. Folding creases.<br>Stravinsky conducted his son Soulima an accomplished pianist though overshadowed by his father in a performance of his Cappriccio for piano and orchestra.
