Froude, best known for his History of England, delivered the first work as an address before the Philosophical Institution of Edinburgh on 3rd November 1865. The third work is sub-titled 'Sketches of Highland Character'. All four works were published in Edmonston & Douglas' series 'Odds and Ends'. First Editions of all works in this series are scarce.
