The edition is condensed down from the 4 volume set by the omission of the text illustrations and 4 chapters which endeavored to deal with the salmon problems of the day.

The Royal Highlanders formed in Scotland and fought in several wars including the American Revolution. The Royal Highlanders were also a fraternal organization founded in Nebraska in 1895.
