The present volume is the most important one, it consists of 12 papers on several physical and biological aspects of the lakes (surface oscillations, temperatures, chemistry, botany, sediments, plankton, etc.) and some general limnological issues, and a very large bibliography of limnological literature of about 2,700 references covering pages 659 through 752. This volume is considered as a classic contribution to the study of limnology, a reprint edition appeared in 1977 (New York: Arno Press).
