97349 October 1821; Withyham East Sussex. 4to 2 pp. Twenty-five lines. Text clear and complete. Good on aged paper. He regrets being 'from home when Capt. Wells & the Major called'. The 'Ferns in question' are rare and there are illustrations of them in Sowerby. One he gives the Latin names of both was discovered on the 'High Rocks . some twenty years ago by Mr. Foster the Father of our Dr.'. At the time he was 'shewn a few starved plants of it growing in the crevice of a rocky bank'. Discusses the habitat of both: 'a whole day might be passed in diligent search without finding either of them by any one who did not know a little how & where to look'. Ends by discussing the possibility of getting specimens from Foster. 9 October 1821; Withyham [East Sussex]. unknown
