In folio (50x58 cm il foglio). Esemplare in fine coloritura coeva ed in ottime condizioni di conservazione. Magnifica e vivida tiratura di questa celeberrima carta del territorio di Gibilterra. La carta fu stampata dal successore e cognato del grande cartografo Matthaus Seutter (sposò una delle figlie di Seutter), il cartografo, editore ed incisore Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717 - 1777). Lotter, si formò alla bottega di Matthaus Seutter per il quale lavorò. Alla morte di Seutter ne rilevò l’attività che portò avanti fino al 1777 anno della sua morte. L’attività passo poi al figlio, Matthias Albrecht Lotter. Tobias Conrad fu uno dei più apprezzati cartografi del settecento. La carta riproduce il territorio di Gibilterra con la rocca. Un bel cartiglio animato, collocato al margine alto destro della carta centrale, descrive il contenuto della mappa. Ai lati due lunghi cartigli in francese e tedesco fanno da legenda alle varie costruzioni che si trovano nel territorio di Gibilterra. Opera in bella tiratura ed in ottime condizioni di conservazione.

He served as Chief Justice of Pennsylvania (1851-1854), Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice (1851-1856), Attorney General (1857-1860) and the U.S. Secretary of State (1860-1861) under President James Buchanan. He denied the constitutionality of secession, and urged that Fort Sumter be properly reinforced and defended. However, he also argued that a state could not be legally coerced by the Federal government. Black was also briefly Counsel for President Johnson in his Impeachment trial before the United States Senate, and for William W. Belknap; United States Secretary of War from 1869 to 1876, who in 1876 was impeached on a charge of corruption; he also represented Samuel J.
