Light toning to text slightly heavier in places light foxing to a few leaves. $500. Only edition. Includes details on the recently completed 1736 survey indicated by the exact location of some 74 boundary stones on the Gloucestershire side and of 29 on the Somersetshire side. One example: "Stone 1. On the bank of the River of Avon near a limekiln on the East and a sluice on the West call'd Woodwell's-Lake standeth the first stone." This is indeed the only edition; a copy at the Ransom Center at the University of Texas Austin with a suggested date of "1735" must surely be a mistake. BEAUTIFULLY BOUND AND FULLY ILLUSTRATED. This revised edition had been enhanced with additional beautiful and "originally drawings by the best artists" title. We have eight volumes; some other sets include two additional volumes but this history here is complete to the year 1898. These volumes are titled: Volumes I-VIII: From the Roman Invasion to the Wars of the Roses; From the Wars of the Roses to the Great Rebellion’ From the Great Rebellion to the Fall of Marlborough; From the Fall of Marlborough to the Peninsular War; From the Peninsular War to the Death of Sir Robert Peel; From the Death of Sir Robert Peel to the Illness of the Prince of Wales; From the Illness of the Prince of Wales to the British Occupation of Egypt; From the British Occupation of Egypt to the Death of Mr. Gladstone. Large initial capital letter 'W'. 30.3 cm x 22 cm. <br/><br/>Charles best known today as the instigator/leader of the unsuccessful Jacobite uprising of 1745 in his effort to restore an absolute monarchy to the United Kingdom which culminated in defeat at the Battle of Culloden essentially signaling the end of the Jacobite cause. This broadside issued at the apex of the rebellion highlights the extent of Charles' belief in his claim to the throne for in it he declares the parliament at London to lack legitimacy; next he brands traitor & rebel all who attend said parliament; and finally he declares the "pretended union of these Kingdoms now at an End." A very rare survivor of this tumultous time of British history this broadside is known in only 6 copies per ESTC none on this side of the pond. unknown books

Handwritten notebook with 16 additional daily accounts using "Lake Austin Woolen Mill" letterhead for this cheese factories daily tally. Ledger describes what seems to be a cheese co-op with dividends divided per day report of the season most milk received in one day June 16th - 9195 gallons days cheese was made per year 207 etc. Wells VT rests on the edge of Rutland county and in 1870 the populations total was 430 people. In the early 1800's a dam was built on Lake St. Catherine which enabled industry such as a woolen mill wood working shop and cheese factory to thrive. Covers worn joints cracked but holding 2 cm. loss of leather to tail of spine. <br/><br/> hardcover books

Every printed recipe suggests the use of "Fleischmann's" yeast along with a handful of suggestions for "Dromedary Brand Golden Dates and Date Nut Butter" and "Royal Baking Powder". Local advertisements adorn both front and flap of every envelope. Hygienic Societies were formed to some extent to limit the spread of communicable diseases to repress prostitution and the promotion of marriage/parenthood. New York: New England Co. 1899 Portfolio prospectus with above imprint containing fifteen illustrations from the American Publishing Company edition of Twain's WORKS. Portfolio crepe paper envelope with silk tie and wax seal. Twain first heard of this company's activities when he got a letter from a bank president saying they'd tried to sell him a set of Twain's works. Twain forwarded that letter to Bliss on April 15 1899 asking him to look into it Machlis 05576 but in a story in the New York Herald of April 30 1899 the New England Company is described as the authorized agent for the eastern half of the country and their embossed stamp is found in many copies of the Royal Edition. The New England Company also issued a biographical sketch of Twain by A. E. Keller to promote the collected edition. unknown books

An important document in the history of the English Reformation this was the first collection of ecclesiastical law compiled by the Church of England that was not derived from Roman Catholic sources. It was originally enacted in 1571 and amended in 1603 and 1640. This latter issue contains the notorious Article VI "Impugners of the Rites and Ceremonies Established in the Church Censured" which incensed the Puritans.
