Berens' account was first published (by Rivington) in 1839 and proved a very useful summary of earlier histories by Burnet, Collier, Fuller, Heylin and Strype among others. It was several times re-issued (commonly undated) by SPCK into the 1860s. Scarce in this edition and condition.

The portraits and tail-pieces (depicting the monuments) are by Thomas Kitchin, formerly apprenticed to Bowen and later Hydrographer to the King. VERY SCARCE.
