8vo., First Edition, with photographs in the text; black cloth, backstrip lettered in silver, a very good, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Already scarce.
160 pages including index. Taken in the later 19th and early 20th centuries, these 200 photos were in the keeping of the British library in London, and were rediscovered only recently. Selected from the only complete surviving set of pictures sent to Ottawa for protection under the Copyright Act of 1895. The other two sets in Canada were partially destroyed by fire or thrown away in 1938 by order of the Cabinet. Book in fine unmarked condition with the following exception; Original purchaser wrote gift greetings upon half-title page and affixed 4 old black and white faimly photos to half-title page and back side of front free endpaper. These photos are of similar vintage to those in the book thus, in our opinion, they add to the book. Light wear to dust jacket. Book
