" Sachs second published volume in the Kerem Chemed Series. It was the 9th and last volume in the series. Kerem Hemed (was a) Hebrew annual of the Galician Haskalah. Published in Vienna, Prague, and Berlin from 1833 to 1856, Kerem ? Emed served as a central forum for Eastern and Western Jewish scholars and authors. The publisher and nominal editor (was) Samuel Leib *Goldenberg The number of contributors grew from year to year and included writers from Russia, Germany, Hungary and in the last annuals, such figures as L. Zunz, A. Geiger, and the astronomers H. Z. Slonimsky and H. M. Pineles. After Goldenberg's death publication of the annuals ceased until it was revived by Senior Sachs who published the last two annuals in a style similar to their predecessors. Title translates into English as, The Psychological System Of The Maimonides An Introduction For Further Study. A first edition copy Sheyers influential work. Scheyer explains Maimonides psychological system with an emphasis on its internal structure and consistency, rather than from a historical perspective. He mainly follows Maimonides Eight Chapters (the Introduction to his Commentary on Mishnah, Avot) . In passing, he discusses two predecessors, two early works offering a systematic account of Maimonides psychology:

The editor of Der Jude, Gottfried Selig (1722-95), was a convert to Christianity who sought reconciliation between Christians and Jews, to which end, this periodical appeared containing much information about Jewish history, rites and customs. His assumption was that, equipped with deeper insight into Jewish life, a greater sense of understanding would arise within society as a whole. Seligs goal in publishing Der Jude was to make peace between Christians and Jews, but the work earned him opposition from both sides, with Jews claiming that its true goal was to convert Jews to Christianity, and Christians claiming that it lacked historical veracity and presented a false neutrality. Originally printed as a three volume set, with each volume containing two mishnayot. This commentary was particularly useful as it contained a variety of commentaries ranging from Rashi to Maimonides to Ibn Gabbi. Translated from the 1732 Amsterdam version. An exhibition catalog with ritual and historic objects from the Great Synagogue in Danzig. The Great Synagogue Danzig was the largest synagogue of the city, which was built in the years 1885-1887 at the former Reitbahnstrasse (today's street Boguslawskiego) . It was planned for 2000 church visitors and designed in a neo-Renaissance style . The inauguration took place on 15 September 1887 by the rabbi Cossmann Werner In April 1939, the synagogue was destroyed at the instigation of the Danzig authorities.. After the anti-Jewish riots of Kristallnacht of 9/10 November 1938 in Germany, similar riots took place on 12/13 November in Danzig. The Great Synagogue was taken over and demolished by the local authorities in 1939. Most Jews had already left the city, and the Jewish Community of Danzig decided to organize its own emigration in early 1939. (Wikipedia, 2017) This 1933 exhibition took place during the period at which Danzig was an semi-autonomous city-state known as The Free City of Danzig. This historical period in Danzigs history has been brought to life by Günter Grass Danzig Trilogy, including The Tin Drum. In 1933, the city's government was taken over by the local Nazi Party, which suppressed the democratic opposition. Due to anti-Semitic persecution and oppression, many Jews fled. After the German invasion of Poland in 1939, the Nazis abolished the Free City and incorporated the area into the newly formed Reichsgau of Danzig-West Prussia. The Nazis classified the Poles and Jews living in the city as subhumans, subjecting them to discrimination, forced labor, and extermination. Leopold Ritter von Sacher-Masoch was an Austrian nobleman, writer and journalist, who gained renown for his romantic stories of Galician life. The term masochism is derived from his name. During his lifetime, Sacher-Masoch was well known as a man of letters, in particular an utopian thinker who espoused socialist and humanist ideals in his fiction and non-fiction. (wikipedia 2018).
