18099127C1809. Berlin-Cölln. 1809. ca. 21 x 17 cm. 1 Blatt. Original-Dokument mit Stempeln Datierung und Signatur. Blatt etwas knickspurig und fleckig sonst gut erhalten. Altersentsprechend guter Zustand. Das historische Dokument bestätigte einem Mieter in Cölln heute Berlin-Mitte die Zahlung einer Abgabe "zur Bestreitung der Kriegeskosten" im Jahre 1809. In das Formular wurden zahlreiche Details handschriftlich eingetragen. So wurden im oberen Bereich wohl Beruf und Name des Mieters genannt darunter die Straße und Hausnummer. In diesem Fall scheint der Mieter wohl in der Brüderstraße 44 nahe dem Schloßplatz gewohnt zu haben und hat hier scheinbar eine Kriegsabgabe von 4 Reichstalern und 2 Groschen gezahlt. Die Beträge wurden numerisch und in Worten aufgeführt. Vermutlich galt die Abgabe den Kriegskosten Preußens aus den damaligen Koalitionskriegen gegen Frankreich. Der Vorschuss wurde ganz unten von den Hauseignern mit Unterschrift Stempel Ortsangabe und Datierung bestätigt. Sehr interessante Archivalie aus der Berliner Mitte am Anfang des 19. 189032067East Berlin CT: Berlin Iron Bridge Co ca. 1890s. Large broadside 31.75x47cm.; previous mail folds as issued very slightly postally used on verso else a Very Good or Near Fine example. Advertisement issued by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company depicting their "Patent" municipal signboards including information on production materials and a price guide. Text includes extracts from pertinent New England and mid-Atlantic state laws regarding guide boards. Presumably issued sometime after 1888 the laws in Vermont having been approved November 2nd of that year. As of today many of bridges built by the Company can be found on the National Register of Historic Places. One copy catalogued in OCLC as of November 2016 at the Connecticut Historical Society. Glasser p.209 Eduard Müller stellt den im Hagener ärztlichen Verein am 22. Februar vorgestellten Fall einer eigenartigen und seltenen Missbildung des rechten Händchens bei einem dreimonatigen Kindes vor. Hierbei dürfte es sich wohl um die erste radiologische Darstellung der Teratologie handeln . unknown

Condition of the prints is Very Good; most print have excellent contrast a few are lower contrast but not due to fading but due to the way they were printed no toning foxing staining etc. most have titles pencilled on boards in English. Neuruppin ca. 1895.</p><p>Printed cotton handkerchief 370 x 370mm printed in blue green red and black; old folds a little dusty in places.</p><p>A very rare survival a souvenir handkerchief celebrating the 'new' Berlin symbolised by the Reichstag which had been opened in 1894 and commemorating old buildings of the German capital which were soon replaced during the building boom of the last years of the century. The printing might have been done in Neuruppin a garrison town not far from Berlin which was well known for its printers of popular imagery mainly carried out by the companies Gustav Kühn and Oehmigke & Riemschneider.</p>

182250491<p>This early nineteenth-century German liturgical work Kirchen-Agende für die Hof- und Domkirche in Berlin was published for use within the royal court and cathedral church in Berlin under Frederick William III. The volume contains German prayers liturgical forms worship texts devotional material and printed church music associated with Protestant services in Prussia. This example is especially notable as a royal presentation copy signed and dedicated by King Frederick William III in the preliminary blanks. The binding also bears royal "FWIII" markings stamped into the leather beneath a crown device. Royal association copies from the Prussian court remain highly desirable within collections of European history theology and monarchy. Very Good. Full leather binding remains tight and secure with embossed gilt cross retained on the front cover; pages show heavy age toning in places while remaining legible throughout. 4to single volume. Rubbing to spine and board edges. Internally clean. Bookplate to the front pastedown of Manoug Parikian British concert violinist and professor at the Royal Academy of Music London. Loosely inserted are three TLS by Isaiah Berlin dated 1972-73 on 'Headington House Oxford' letterhead in which he thanks Parikian for the loan of the book and then apologises for not returning it in a timely manner as the book had become buried somewhere in his library. The author Wilhelm von Lenz was born in Riga and studied with Liszt and Chopin in Paris. He is best known for his research on Beethoven. The final chapter in this book deals with Beethoven's violin concerto as performed in St. Petersburg by Vieuxtemps. Text in German. . Good. 1/4 Sheep. 1850. Carl Gerold 1850 unknown

Gilt lettering dulled but readable modest wear to the spine ends a tight very good copy. Irving Berlin's copy with his bookplate on the front pastedown. Housed in a custom quarter leather and marbled papercovered clamshell case. Accompanied by 20 slips of paper originally laid into the book with holograph notes by Berlin. Of these seven contain working manuscript notes for a rhyming song. The transitory and fragmentary nature of the notes are obviously inconclusive but it appears this song is unpublished. Also in the book is a letter to Mrs. Berlin from a Las Vegas correspondent and some other material. Further provenance on request. A chance to remake musical history: in an interview in his 90s he lived to be 101 Berlin claimed never to use a rhyming dictionary Davis The Craft of Lyric Writing p. 212. A fascinating artifact a compositional tool from one of the greatest songwriters of all time and among them one of the few to write his own lyrics as well as music. Berlin wrote approximately 1500 songs during his long career many of them recognizable American standards such as "Alexander's Ragtime Band" his first hit in 1911 "Puttin' on the Ritz" "God Bless America" "Easter Parade" and "White Christmas." In addition he wrote the scores for 19 Broadway shows and 18 Hollywood films. By virtue of the endurance of his individual compositions his lasting influence on other musicians and the sheer length and breadth of his career Berlin occupies a singular position in the history of popular music.
