Esemplare in buone condizioni, recante alla sguardia l'ex libris inciso in rame, e la firma, di (Benjamin-Henry) Constant de Rebecque (1767-1830), scrittore preromantico ("Adolphe"), posto "sugli altar" e "nella polvere" da Napoleone, celebre per gli scritti sul modello del liberalismo inglese. Il volume racchiude due libelli anonimi, entrambi in prima traduzione francese, firmate dal rabbino "Nathan Ben Saddi" (traduzione ad opera dello scrittore sovversivo Fougeret de Monbron) e da "Kemuel Saddi", in realtà il poligrafo e libraio inglese Robert Dodsley e Christoph Gottlieb Richter (m. 1774), A. di altre opere del genere sotto lo pseudonimo di "Dathan". Alla seconda, manca nel nostro esemplare la "Continuation de la Chronique..", non sempre presente anche nelle copie censite nelle biblioteche. L'anonimato, e lo stile vagamente orientaleggiante o "biblico", sul modello delle coeve più celebri "Lettres persanes", permettono ad entrambi gli A. di scrivere animata parodia, assai poco lusinghiera, dei sovrani inglesi, e delle vicende e protagonisti delle guerre di Federico II di Prussia, la Prima e Seconda Guerra di Slesia (1740-'42 e '44-'45).
