Patmore HalI Little Hadham Herts I June 1954. One page slighly creased but suitable for framing. He responds to Mr Dandy's sympathy and adds: "I spent the last few days with my mother in Germany. Thank God she did not suffer. She passed away quite peacefully. The funeral took place on a lovely sunny spring day up on the Burg Hohenzollern where once you met my mother." He has no photographs but will send any he gets. He adds after all he was a farmer some words about the prospects for crops. He discusses Dandy's offer of "yet another Motor Cycle this time a 1914 Triumph two Stroke". He says that his younger son would be "very happy if he could have such a rare Motor Cycle". His chronological narrative was meant to chart the various world-historical developments and circumstances which ultimately led to the confluence of Mr. Lewis' Continental ancestors and those of the Mayflower Colony and it extended even to his own lifetime. Housed in altogether fifteen portfolio volumes the project was the culmination of decades of painstaking research and discerning collecting of the highest order.
