Near fine. <p>Limited edition of 250 copies of which 50 were for presentation to members of the Zamorano Club of Los Angeles.<p>The frontispiece is a reproduction of Morse's bookplate designed by Howard Pyle which appeared in each book in his collection. In addition a book label for the particular collection to which the item belonged with ruled lines for bibliographical information was tipped in at the rear of each book. An actual specimen of one of these labels is tipped onto the rear inside wrap. The label is this copy is for "First Editions / Manuscripts Etc." This is one of Rackham's more outstanding achievements: the volume contains 34 color plates each tipped onto heavy art paper with a printed tissue guard. This volume is in fine condition with scarcely any soil or wear. Included is Heinemann's 1910 pictorial dust jacket repeating the book's decoration: it is in very good-plus condition light wear at the spine ends and upper edge of the rear panel faint damp-mark on the latter. The covers are lightly rubbed. ii xiv 231 & i pages plus 8 pages of publisher's ads. Illustrated with 16 full-page black-and-white plates including the frontispiece. There is minor wear to the bottom of the front and rear hinges. The book's fore-edge and bottom edge are foxed and there is some minor occasional foxing to the contents. An early owner's holograph presentation label is mounted on the front endpaper and his name is stamped on the front pastedown. Very good. <p>The chapters are titled "The Ring of the Curse" with it's 4 sub-chapters being "The Rhine-Gold" "The War Maidens" "Siegfried the Fearless" and "The Downfall of the Gods". The subsequent stories from Wagner's operas are titled "Parsifal the Pure" "Lohengrin the Swan Knight" "Tannhauser the Knight of Song" "The Master Singers" "Rienzi the Last of the Tribunes" "The Flying Dutchman" and "Tristan and Isolde".
