Presentation inscription from the composer to tenor Enrico Caruso on the half title. From the collection of Jane Hohfeld Galante 1924 - 2010 pianist and music scholar. <br><br><br />Caruso created roles in many of Cilea's operas but was not among the cast of this production. 'Gloria' was Cilea's final opera opening at La Scala on April 15 1907 conducted by Arturo Toscanini and was a box office disaster closing after only two performances.
