D'Allessio was born in the Ottoman Empire who belongs to a former Catholic family on the island of Syra in the Aegean Sea, Archipelago. He worked at the Ottoman Bank, had some mining privileges in the last years of the Ottoman state, and published many articles and books on the history and archeology of Istanbul and especially Galata and Pera. He immigrated to Athens in 1936 and died there.

MarcoTrevisan (1588-1674) viene ricordato anche per il legame omosessuale con Nicolò Barbarigo (1579-1644), l’amicizia “eroica” che fu cantata in diverse opere del tempo.

Dust jacket has some tears and chipping but in wrapped completely (again, by the library) in a protective cover. Text block is flawless with 158 pages of text plus plates, 400 illustrations, including 16 color plates. Contents include Lacquer in the 17th Century " " in the 18th Century, Lqcquer in England and the North American Colonies, Italian, German, French, Scandinavian, Russian and Lacquer of the Netherlands, the Lacquer Industry. From the reference section, this book was not generally circulated.

The 31 etchings are in final state (on Japan, of course, and unique as such), and first and the last are signed in pencil by the artist (the first etching is also warmly inscribed by the artist to Colucci). *****(2) FOUR ADDITIONAL SUITES OF THE 31 ETCHINGS: the first (remarque) state in black on Japan (UNIQUE); the first state in black on Auvergne laid paper; the second state (with many of the remarques still partially visible) in black on Auvergne (UNIQUE); the final state in bistre on Auvergne. *****(3) ALL OF THE ORIGINAL DRAWINGS FOR THE ETCHINGS USED IN THE BOOK.
