193926814New York/Los Angeles/Toronto: Samuel French. Very Good. c.1939. First Edition. Softcover. good sound copy some wear and age-browning along spine tiny ink mark on front cover light external soiling; text is clean and unmarked. B&W photo frontispiece This play about teenage puppy-love was "suggested by" this husband-and-wife writing team's novel "This Awful Age" published in 1930. The play was staged in Hollywood in February 1939; the Los Angeles Times critic praised its "unusually witty" dialogue and described it was "a turbulent hullabaloo of youth indulging in every phase of the coming-of-age event in which there's certainly never a dull moment." A prospective Broadway production was teased in the press but never came to be; it did however serve as the source even though Ryerson and Clements only got a "story by" credit for the 1941 Columbia film HER FIRST BEAU starring Jane Withers and Jackie Cooper. .
