Later issue of this magazine that was established in 1981. Created by David Holland using his artist name Teen Angel the magazine served as an important voice for the Chicano culture of Los Angeles and beyond. Much of Teen Angel was devoted to art and submissions by contributors many of them in prison and reflected the cholo style. The magazine masthead itself states it was "to give a voice to the young people from the varrios. To empower those who have been traditionally denied freedom of speech …" Teen Angel countered mainstream society's perceptions that essentially criminalized much of the Chicano/cholo culture creating pride in art fashion etc. Gang life was also portrayed in a matter of fact manner that led to misperceptions about the zine by outsiders. This issue with many contributions from incarcerated people as well as several pages devoted to various gangs whether art of photos. FAIR condition. Unfortunately a 7 by 3 ½ inch piece is CUT OUT from the first leaf with a corresponding slice affecting the next leaf. Heavy rubbing and fading to the covers with wrinkling and creasing. Some curling to the lower page corners. Teen Angel, Publisher unknown
