Most of the engravings are illustrations of the various scenes with a few portrait plates; all of the Papier de Chine illustrations are small engraved illustrations meant for the start of each canto and are facing duplicates on Fine Paper. Hinges reinforced by a conservator with Japanese tissue paper. Signed full red morroco binding by Matthews; with gilt lettering and decorations. Marbled endpapers and gilt dentelles. Top edge gilt.
