Alcune leggere fioriture in due ritratti dovuti alla qualità della carta, non fastidiosi o intensi, e per il resto in buone condizioni di conservazione. Prima edizione di questo curioso studio dedicato alle figure femminili dei romanzi di George Sand's con schizzi narrativi delle opere dove compaiono. Molto belli e fini i ritratti realizzati Charpentier, Giraldon, Fanny Geefs, Robinson e altri. Veste grafica curatissima con bellissime incisioni che incorniciano la prima pagina di ogni capitolo e che si trovano anche nel testo. Fra le figure incise oltre al bellissimo ritratto di George Sand alla prima carta, Valentine, Pauline, Metella, Fernande, Consuelo, Noun ecc. Buono-ottimo esemplare. First edition, good copy.

This large engraving shows the Acts of the Saints depicting a female figure seated at the top of the page being presented volumes labeled by month January through July. On either side of the unfurled scroll on which the title is printed are women The left figure with a star on her forehead is directing the promoting the delivery of the monthly books the other creating fire with a curved magnifying glass – these figures atop two short columns with the text "Eruditio Antiqua Reduco" and "Veritas Obscrua Revelo". A young cherub and a winged old man eating paper complete the image at the bottom. [date unidentified, ca. (1700-1719)]. unknown books
