194927624New York 1949. First Edition. Quarto 28cm.; mimeographed on yellow stock. Extremities just a hint toned and rather brittle with one long closed tear to bottom edge affecting one word without loss of meaning. Very Good overall. Poem dated July 12 1949 and "Dedicated to the memory of Benjamin H. Fletcher veteran Negro revolutionary Industrialist Unionist who died July 10 1949 and to all other valiant ones who died in the fight for Freedom." Fletcher was one of the most prominent leaders of the IWW as a member Local 8 the IWW branch of Philadelphia longshoremen consequently convicted along with hundreds of other IWW members for treasonous activity during World War I. Sentenced to 10 years he ultimately served three after which most sentences were commuted. Herber Mahler the author of this poem and General Secretary-Treasurer of the IWW from 1931-2 was also among those who served time. Broadside unlocated in OCLC as of October 2015. unknown

1959012137Rome: Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente 1959. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good -/Good. Red cloth binding with gilt spine lettering clean bright and unworn; col.frontispiece before half-titlexvi19242 monochrome photo-plates on 21 leaves some with more than one per page numbered a.b. etc. 2 unfolding maps a further map and a plan of Ch'ang-An also a block of 14 text figs. to pp.179-192 price label bottom rear pastedown; main flaw is edge-tanning throughout and outer sides of endpapers offf-set from jacket wraparounds both of which also have a thin dark brown central vertical strip these seem to be caused by some adhesion to wraparound edges both of which have traces of white paper along them particularly the front one otherwise clean and unmarked so just about rates VG- in my view; clean and unclipped jacket badly but thinly edge-rubbed and nicked especially along bottom which has a continuous thin line of rubbing over a dark strip will add protective sleeve when ordered. Apparently very scarce. 17 cm x 24.5 cm. Edge tanning presumably due to paper stock used and likely to be common to most copies.

Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente hardcover
