Inscribed by Moholy-Nagy to Galka Scheyer; fürfrau Scheyer/ Moholy-Nagy soon became known as one of the most important artists of Constructivism. His varied works ranges from painting photography film design and stage design to experiments with photograms which considerably influenced the development of light art and kinetic art. He joined the Bauhaus" in 1923 and contributed heavily to the design and production of the 14-book Bauhausbucher series which documented the school's work and aims. The present copy is #8 of that series. In 1927 the Henry Art Gallery presented its first modern art exhibition presenting The Blue Four. Acquainted through various artist affiliations and the Bauhaus School in Weimar Germany the four artists and most likely Moholy-Nagy were introduced at that time to Galka Scheyer. Galka Scheyer whose continuous efforts to promote the Blue Four which included Lyonel Feininger Wassily Kandinsky Paul Klee and Alexej Jawlensky widened the influence of European modernism in the United States. The Pasadena Art Institute and The Pasadena art museum hold several works by Galka Sheyer and Moholy-Nagy. 140pp. text in German photographic illustrations bound in original wraps with dust jacket printed in red and whitelacking rear panel with flap ends mounted to wrapper but replaced rear panel with facsimile.
