Three parts in one volume quarto old papered boards with printed label and manuscript to spine; pp. 12 99 9; 70 2; 26 last blank; second and third parts each with separate title and pagination; the first part with 4 engraved plates including an artist's impression of 'Mahomet's Paradys'; as in some other examples this copy bound without the 12-page appendix containing an account of the capture of Dutch-controlled Formosa by the Chinese in 1661-62; occasional spotting and browning from the library of Ludvig Holstein-Holsteinborg 1815-1892 his stamp to the main title-page. Rare first Dutch editions of Marco Polo's travels as well as the narratives of early journeys to the East by Hayton of Corycus Haithon the Armenian d.1271 and the Venetian merchant Niccolò de' Conti c.1395-1469 all printed in Amsterdam by Abraham Wolfgang in 1664. The translations were made by Jan Hendrik Glazemaker a prolific translator of early travel accounts and works by classical authors. Cordier BS 1986-7; Tiele 872 hardcover
