A most unique 29 page volume of poetry including such titles as: Old Folks Alone; The Nomad (which appears beneath the book's only illustration, that of a middle aged couple); The Isle of Dreams; The Immigrant's Return; Satisfied; The Prospector; and many others. Author's signature inside front cover. Several handwritten corrections to contents may be those of the author. Several poems have different poems pasted on top of them. Thus, this volume may in fact be a draft copy. Pasted inside the back cover is a most amusing work entitled "A Close Call" - an Australian Idyl, which describes the Widow McPhee's near-seduction of the writer whilst he was camped out beneath a 'monster blue-gum tree' in sunny New South Wales. Wholesale peeling to inside of front cover suggests a pasted down poem has been removed. We note passing references to the Yukon, prospecting, and the lanes of Devon. Undated - circa 1950?. Very well worn but holding together. Book

Snowdonia, containing some of the finest and most accessible cliffs in Britain, needs no introduction to rock climbers. This new guide for climbers ... offers over 500 of the region's best-quality climbs, including outstanding routes from little-known Central Wales and the Lleyn Peninsula, as well as introducing recent developments at Rhoscolyn, Great Orme and on the North Wales Slate. The book has been thoroughly researched and tested, and provides detailed route descriptions incorporating standard grading as well as a star system. These, together with the lavish use of excellent photo-diagrams, make the climbs easy to locate and follow. Book

Science under Scrutiny The Place Of History And Philosophy Of Science Edizione Inglese di R. W. Home (a cura di) Editore: Springer Netherlands EAN: 9789048183845 ISBN: 9048183847 Pagine: 208 Formato: Paperback Only in fairly recent years has History and Philosophy of Science been recognized - though not always under that name - as a distinct field of scholarly endeavour. Previously, in the Australasian region as elsewhere, those few individuals working within this broad area of inquiry found their base, both intellectually and socially, where they could. In fact, the institutionali zation of History and Philosophy of Science began comparatively early in Australia. An initial lecturing appointment was made at the University of Melbourne immediately after the Second World War, in 1946, and other appointments followed as the subject underwent an expansion during the 1950s and '60s similar to that which took place in other parts of the world. Today there are major Departments at the University of Melbourne, the University of New South Wales and the University of Wollongong, and smaller groups active in many other parts of Australia, and in New Zealand.
