Light rubbing corners bumped a few minor dampstains to boards some fading to spine. Faint dampstaining to margins internally clean. Ex-library. Small inkstamp and manuscript shelf number to title page. A nice copy. $350. Second issue. First issued in 1872 and replaced by a revised code in 1971 this penal code was important because it formally endorsed such principles as the assumption of innocence until proven guilty and the prohibition of arrests without warrants. Offenses covered include abortion adultery illegal marriages dueling and homicide among others.
