By the early 1900s their company Stone & Webster was designing and constructing power plants in six states and operating lighting and streetcar systems. By 1910 fourteen percent of the nation's electrical generating capacity had been designed engineered and built by Stone & Webster. The company went public in 1929 and continued to grow and diversify throughout the 20th century. In 2000 the company was acquired by the Shaw Group and then by Technip in 2012. unknown

The exposition had the theme A Pageant of the Pacific and celebrated the completion of the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge with this exhibition located on an artificial island in San Francisco Bay. The Brazilian pavillion a masterpiece of modernism contained some spectacularly designed features such as a relief map of South America and the snazzy Cafe Brazil complete with band.Together with: Two 4to brochures of Rules and Regulations of the exhibition with a few original press photos in large 4to format. hardcover

Includes a preface with military overtones and an autobiographical introduction. Binding a bit cocked else just about fine in spine-sunned about very good dust jacket with several tiny chips. Signed and dated by Brazil at his portrait. "Here is a story of people struggling for happiness with a background of international intrigue and inevitable conflict in which these United States of America shed some of their blood to liberate an enslaved nation." According to the dust jacket this is the author's first novel and also the first book published by Pathfinder Enterprises. Brazil is described as an Oakland taxi-cab driver: "most of it was actually written in a taxi-cab." The jacket flaps gives an intriguing list of characters see image and describes the novel as such: "This is the story of two girls. One of them was good and the other was bad—yet they were very much alike. It is a story that pleads for tolerance. ." We do note a happy romantic ending for one of the girls. A small archive from Charles Skipper & East Limited the London bank note printers including 2 hand written letters on company headed paper which divulge negotiations regarding the potential supply of new bank notes to the Banco da Republica dos Estados Unidos du Brazil and Banco Nacional de la Republica de Colombia. The letters are dated March and April 1891 and penned by an agent working on behalf of Charles Skipper & East sent from an address on Rue de Soutay Paris. Details of potential orders discussed include denominations required quantities note sizes print type costings colour watermarks vignettes precise shipping costs and security arrangements 'they want the new notes to be of a different appearance from those now in use and to combine all possible conditions of security'. Letter 1: Dated 23rd March 1891 discusses the agent's commission the receipt of sketches for the 'un mil' note for Banco da Republica dos Estados Unidos du Brazil and the receipt of 9 bank notes used in Colombia by Banco Nacional de la Republica de Colombia sent from M Luis Carlos Rico of Bogota. 4 sides in contemporary hand writing. Very detailed. Signed 'Yours faithfully E Gany'. In very good condition. Letter 2: Dated 24th April 1891 discusses sketches of the 100 peso note for Colombia quotations for the 5760000 notes in six kinds to be printed and their American competitors. 2 sides in contemporary hand writing. Very detailed. Signed 'Yours faithfully E Gany'. In very good condition. Additionally included in the archive are: Debentures numbered 390 - 400 dated 1st December 1931 signed by the Directors and secretary of Charles Skipper & East Ltd. Double sided printed on pink paper stamped and dated. In fresh condition. A letter dated April 1932 from the solicitors representing Charles Skipper & East to Miss ABS Macfie giving notice to her tenancy of 50 Great Tower St EC3. A legal letter headed Lincoln's Inn 26th May 1892 regarding deeds for a property on Tower Hill in Great Tower St and access to Priest's Alley naming Mr Edward Wormald.
