A Projecto for commercial law was published in 1836 another in 1838. The code was enacted in 1850 and its first two editions were published in 1858 and 1869. The later editions 1878 1886 1896 are the best because they contain extensive commentary. All of these early editions are rare. This survey fills a gap on the little studied architect. Among his many projects ont that is most emblematic is the Conjunto Nacional on Avenida Paulista in São Paulo. Other aspects in this study and basic to the understanding the work of Likeskind is this interest in art. He is also noted for his artistic production as a graphic illustrator during the 1950s and 1960s. This study is the expansion of the doctoral thesis of the author.
