Contemporary sheep treated to look like tree calf raised bands and red and black lettering pieces to spine. Some rubbing to extremities corners bumped and somewhat worn hinges cracked. Light toning occasional annotations and underlining in pencil small circular owner stamp and early signature to head of title page "Edmundo Correas Abogado Mendoza." A nice copy. $150. Argentina's civil code was enacted in 1871 and with numerous modifications remains in force today. Our 1920 imprint shows how the code stood in the early 1920s. Edmundo Correas 1901-1991 was an esteemed Argentinean lawyer historian professor and author. He lived in the province of Mendoza for his entire life and dedicated himself to educational and cultural work in the region. He was one of the founders of the National University of Cuyo the province's largest institution of higher education. OCLC locates 8 copies of this edition. unknown

Coni 1878. 24 pp. Five plates two folding. Octavo 9-1/4" x 6-1/4". Later cloth gilt titles to spine. Light shelfwear some toning to text final three leaves of Construccion detached internally clean. $950. Only editions located. The first item is the penal code for Corrientes one of the provinces of Argentina. The second title which is not legal in nature is an essay defending the establishment of Buenos Aires as the national capital in 1880. Illustrated with plates depicting classrooms and school furniture the final title is a book of regulations governing the construction of schools and the furnishing of classrooms. All of these titles are rare. OCLC locates 1 copy each of Corrientes and Provincia both in Germany no copies of Construccion. 14643On letterhead of Knight & Porteous 'La Maria Luisa' Bonifacio F.C.S. Buenos Aires Argentina. 21 October 1913. 2pp. 8vo. In fair condition on aged paper with wear to extremities. He begins by discussing his own holiday Fagan's and that of Porteous before describing the weather on his trip to Argentina from England with news of his plans 'I will try & get home for B.M. meeting 10th Janry.' Changing the subject he writes: 'Hope you are getting to work in the Spirit room. It is a pity we cant have Oliver Lodge on the Sub Cttee. His address bored me & I think it most disappointing. I hoped for something much more exciting. It was only anti-cock-sure-Schafer. If he had got in to Spooks earlier & told us a bit more about them & their unscientific ways it wd. have been more entertaining at any rate. He regrets that 'we dont have <> Harcourt in that Sub-Cttee & as he cannot be elected till May I suppose he can't be got in anyhow'. He thinks it will be 'interesting to see if Lord R. will turn up at any of the meetings after all the fuss or if he will continue to bury himself as of yore.' He reports that 'Floods have been tremendous in parts of this Province & Southern Railway had no end of a bother.' He still thinks 'Centrals are the best but Pacifics about 70 must be a good buy. Commercially things are bad in Buenos. Aires. a depression after the book of a good many years.' He concludes with a comment on mortgages and interest.
