Dedica all'arciduchessa d'Austria Maria Beatrice d'Este. Uno dei volgarizzamenti più riusciti di Virgilio, da molti considerato superiore a quello di Annibal Caro. Celmente Bondi, nato a Mezzano Superiore in provincia di Parma, fu tra i principali protagonisti della scena letteraria italiana sul finire del XVIII secolo. Autore di diversi componimenti, è ricordato supratutto per la maestria dei suoi volgarizzamenti di vari classici latini. Quella che qui presentiamo e la prima edizione veneta, contemporanea alla prima parmense stampata dal Bodoni del volgarizzamento dell'Eneide. L'opera ebbe uno straordinario successo tanto da essere più volte ristampata. Completa dei due volumi. Margini ampi ed ancora in barbe.
