Twice-stapled card covers bearing the distinctive Elk crest of the organization to the front cover captioned with their initials B.P.O.E. Canada and Newfoundland all printed in lilac ink. Portrait frontispiece depicting members of the Manitoba Lodge accompanied throughout by a variety of individual and group photographic portraits of the organizations leadership and prominent members including a group portrait of the Elks Band; a charming series of period photographs of Portage la Prairie; and images of members of the female auxiliary unit the Order of the Royal Purple. Many period advertisements from a wide range of local businesses and merchants. Prefaced with numerous congratulatory and salutary messages from national and local leadership including C.W. Beese Harrison Peile I.H. Greenberg C.W. Pooles and J.C. Preece Mayor of Portage la Prairie and most notably Royal Burritt the reform-minded former head of the Headingly Gaol. Comprises a detailed programme of events surrounding the groups three-day summer convention held in 1947; a comprehensive roster of lodge officers and leadership; an overview of the history aims and charitable purpose of the organization; a dedicated overview of the female auxiliary unit the Order of the Royal Purple; a historical account of the Manitoba Lodge detailing its founding and leadership; further information regarding the Elks Band and Junior Elks Lodge No. 8; and material relating to the Save the Children Fund a wartime charitable initiative supporting the children of Coventry including totals of funds raised. Slight crease to the centre of the front cover else remarkably well preserved with clean bright contents; near fine. Unrecorded in OCLC.
