Scale metriche in miliaria gallica e miliaria tedesca. (Lexikon der Kartographie II, p. 899), Koeman M. Wit 1, 27. Koeman, Atlantes Neerlandici, IV, pp.191 e 518-519. Shirley 444. Putnam, Early sea charts, 75.. .

838 pages. "Even though the geographic limitations of this work are prescribed by the boundaries of a specific Icelandic settlement, its general scope and extensive background research defy this narrow categorization. The author not only traces the history of the settlement itself, from its beginnings to recent times, he includes a great deal of material of potential interest to those who may have only tenuous links with the Icelandic cultural heritage, at the same time establishing ties between thousands of Icelandic-North Americans and their native Iceland.... The author's disciplined approach has made the writing of this book an arduous task, but at the same time his stringent demands upon himself have enhanced the scholarly merit of his work immeasurably. Virtually unaided, the author has now completed and seen through to publication a more meticulous piece of research than any previously undertaking in the field of Icelandic ethnic history." - Haraldur Bessason, Professor and Head , Department of Icelandic Language and Literature, University of Manitoba. A treasure from the formative years of jazz diva Diana Krall. In 1980 Diana graduated from Woodlands Junior Secondary School in Nanaimo, British Columbia on Vancouver Island, Canada. Her photo first appears on page 19 where she is recognized on the 1978-79 Arts Honour Roll. On page 121 in the Band section appears a gorgeous head-shot of a young Diana playing the saxophone, beneath which appears the caption 'Diana!'. Michelle Krall, Diana's younger sister, appears on page 106. Finally, Diana's graduation photo and write-up appear on page 58. Beside her photo we read "Diana Piano resembles her Dad. In her spare time she eats and sleeps. Her life ambition is to replace Oscar Peterson. 'Way to go, Diana!'". Diana's current global superstardom is clearly no accident! The book itself is clean, tight and unmarked with very light wear. An excellent copy of this truly wonderful and inspiring item. Book

Original Progressive Conservative Party of Canada Speakers' Handbook for use in the run-up to the Canadian federal election of 1945. Printing date not stated but was most likely 1944, possibly 1945. Unpaginated. Two inches thick. Provides the full spectrum of PC policies and points with which to attack the Liberal and C.C.F. parties. Contents divided into the following sections: Table of Contents; Leadership - with considerable biographical information on PC leader John Bracken; War Policy and Veterans; Agriculture; Labour; Reconstruction and Natural Resources; Transportation; International Problems; Liberal Policy; C.C.F. A faithful study of the languages and customs compels us to acknowledge that there are deeper truths than facts, and under the blanket and coat of skin there beats a human heart, as there is beauty, sweetness and wisdom in their traditions and courage, liberty and devotion in their lives". - Preface.
