Scattered light spotting Good or so. <br/><br/> On April 22 1831 the Assembly passed the bill as amended. JOURNAL OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK 1831. Pages 194 209 428 436 443 447-8 462 784 and 809. Following its enactment the Seaman's Retreat Hospital was built to care for sick and disabled merchant seamen. The first buildings were erected in 1831 and patients transferred there in late 1831. The hospital was expanded over the next several years and completed around 1837. unknown books

The present broadside was printed to inform property owners in the towns of Masonville Tompkins Sidney and Walton in Delaware County New York that their property may be affected by the transfer of lands pursuant to the will of Martha Bradstreet. Located just south of Utica the lands within Delaware County once belonging to the noted French and Indian War hero John Bradstreet and are here noted as the legal property of one of his descendants. The transition of ownership from Bradstreet to the present heir is explained. Signed in print by the executor Thomas Cunningham. unknown books
1797100410<p>Square folio 13 ½ x16 ½ partially printed yellowed at edges some darkening and a little soiling light chipping and a few very short closed tears at edges a little browning document split in half down center crease but repaired on verso with tape small remnant of wax seal and several paper seals. Overall in good condition. This is a court document titled "An Inquisition Indented" signed by the twelve jurors who decided the plaintiffs to be paid damages thirty-three pounds five shillings and two pennies. All signatures are highly legible. The document names Jacob John Lansing Sheriff of the city of New York as the official in this judgment. </p> books

It includes further information on attractions in Queens Brooklyn and Staten Island. 1795WRCAM46466Whitestown N.Y.: O.P. Easton 1795. Broadside 13 x 16 inches. Docketed and annotated on verso. Old folds. Moderate soiling some ink burn. Minor loss at folds affecting a few letters of text. About good. Printed indenture form completed in manuscript being the earliest known imprint for Whitestown New York just next to Utica. Previously the earliest known imprint was dated 1795 and as this form is dated in manuscript January 3 1795 it is almost certain that it was printed in or before 1794. The form is an indenture agreement completed between Amos Leavenworth and his wife Esther and Samuel W. Baldwin and his wife also named Esther selling a tract of land for the sum of £209 ten shillings and eight pence. In manuscript the parcel is indicated as "that certain tract of land situate in Schuyler Town aforesaid and is part of Great Lot No. Seven in the first division of Ledagueda Patent on the North Side of the Mohawk River beginning at the Northeasterly corner of said lot and running thence Northeasterly along the north end of said lot one half the distance across the land conveyed to said Leavenworth by William Hallock thence Southwesterly in a straight line parrallel sic to the line of Cosby's Manor so far as to contain sixty six acres and two thirds of an acre of land when a line is un at right angles to Cosby's Manor." It is signed by Amos and Esther Leavenworth and witnessed by Joan Platt and William Hallock. The deed is certified on the verso with a lengthy manuscript note by Hugh White local judge for Herkimer County. O.P. Easton unknown books

The directory is in alphabetical order with an extensive index by speciality from acetic acid to zinc statuary with thousands of retailers listed. Feather dealers are listed in three different categories - bed dusters and "military and fancy" there are a half dozen listings for burglar alarm manufacturers and three full pages of booksellers including Joseph Sabin and publishers. Walkerís real estate firm was formed in 1857 and remained active under the watch of his sons through 1935. This manuscript book is apparently a receipts ledger showing rents collected by Walker agents for various property owners.
